I engaged the material with very little background in coding, professionally or personally, but I committed the full extent of my discipline because… Read More that is what the depth and breadth of the content of the bootcamp demanded of me. My instructors, Matt Meyer and Eli Boninger, provided generous support along the way both in and out of class, during the week and even on weekends. This dedication Brainstation had for us reflected the dedication they demanded of us in order to reach the skills expected of us by the end of the bootcamp. So dedicated is Brainstation to our success, that it felt to me like the choice of instructors was intentionally designed to cater to different learning styles. Eli gave excellent lectures at a brisk pace, providing us with an understanding of the material which was easy to recall in short notes. Matt, on the other hand, was a fantastic resource for in-the-moment digression on lecture topics to gain a full understanding ahead of lab assignments. They both ensured their availability to assist with gaps in understanding regardless of their teaching styles, but they also maintained a healthy boundary on their help so as to make sure we can independently solve problems as we learned new material — and if not independently, then with our classmates. Our class developed a strong sense of comradery, and we were proud to see each other’s work upon the presentation of our capstones.

I am now engaged in their robust post-graduation career search program which involves bi-weekly meetings to check-in on progress, and expects weekly updates on our week-to-week goals in terms of both career searching (via networking and job applications) as well as the further development of our skills as software engineers. I am confident in the support, and look forward to a great entry to my new career.

Data Analytics Course

“Not worth it”

I initially enrolled in BrainStation’s Data Analytics course from May to July 2023, hoping to pivot my career from Digital Marketing to Data Analytics. Unfortunately, my experience was extremely disappointing. Despite attending the full course, I left… Read More feeling like I had learned almost nothing. I was kindly allowed to retake the certification for free, which I completed in October 2023, but it still hasn’t been beneficial.
The coursework itself was very limited. The first time I took the class, we were told we could go home and complete the work on our own. There was no encouragement to stay and work together in a collaborative environment, so most people, including the instructors, just left. This made the entire course feel disengaged and lacking in depth.
The few concepts I did learn came from free YouTube tutorials, which went much deeper than what was covered in the course. For the high cost, it felt unproductive and not worth the investment.
I invested in the course due to them boasting “more than 90 percent of BrainStation’s bootcamp graduates are employed in their fields within 180 days of graduation”, but despite my six years of Digital Marketing experience, university degrees, other certifications, and now a Data Analytics project, I haven’t received a single interview from the many applications I’ve submitted since last summer. It’s been incredibly disheartening, and I deeply regret my decision to enroll.
I spoke with a BrainStation representative regarding my disappointment and I was told to reach out to my instructors for further help, but none of them have responded to my emails. Adding to this, I was made aware by one of the students in my class that some people in the course were allowed to take it for free just to fill empty spots, such as instructors from other courses who enrolled as students in the Data Analytics class, and vice versa. As part of this exchange they have to leave a 5 star review which is why you will never get honest feedback like this.
I also provided feedback through Synapse (the software with all course materiels etc), and indicated that I was open to further discussions, yet no one from BrainStation  reached out to me until I reached out to them first. For the amount of money I’ve spent, I expected far better engagement and support, and a better resolution than “reach out to your instructors / come to our networking invents”.
Overall, this experience has felt like a significant waste of money, and I no longer believe the course was worth the investment. I hope BrainStation will take these concerns seriously and reconsider offering a refund.

One of… Read More the best parts of the course was the diverse group of fellow students. Everyone brought different backgrounds and experiences to the table, which made discussions lively and gave me a broader perspective on how data analytics can be applied in various fields.
I am incredibly grateful to our instructors, Josefina Oria from Airbnb and Leo Leoni from Spotify. Their industry insights and teaching styles made complex topics understandable and engaging.

BrainStation has not only boosted my confidence but also equipped me with practical skills that I’m eager to apply in real-world projects

80% of the things taught you can learn from the internet. There are a lot of times where the course leaders says, “ignore this slide as it’s outdated.” Then why hasn’t it been updated? If we are paying a lot of money for a course that is outdated it doesn’t… Read More make sense?

Before the course they said you will get a chance to meet industry experts and also there is a community. Both are almost non-existent. The community is just a Linkedin group where no one uses it.

They also mentioned that there will be job support, but no after the course never heard from them again.

The course structure is completely messed up with us being taught the very basics only halfway through the course, being told to just figure it out and play around with it, for marked submissions!! The careers programme… Read More is totally useless, I was being told that my profile was being sent out to hiring partners, however the Brainstation team did not have my CV or any other information that would be needed in order to do what they claim to. No one I know on my bootcamp or the two prior ones has yet received a job and the majority of student revert back to their prior career.

Read More They weren’t just teachers, but real industry professionals who are actively engaged in their respective fields. This made a world of difference because they were able to share real-life examples and insights that were incredibly valuable. Learning from people who are currently in the workforce doing relevant work truly enhanced the learning experience. The use of real-life examples was like a breath of fresh air. It brought the theoretical concepts to life and made them more relatable and understandable. It’s one thing to read about AI or product management in a book, but seeing how these concepts are applied in the real world is priceless. However, there was one drawback – the courses were only one month long. While it’s great for those looking for a quick dive into the world of AI or product management, it did feel a bit rushed at times. There was so much material to cover and so many extra tools provided by the educators that it was challenging to fully take advantage of everything in such a short timeframe. Despite this minor drawback, I left Brainstation feeling more confident in my knowledge of AI and product management, thanks to the passionate instructors and their real-world experiences. If you’re looking for courses that provide a glimpse into these exciting fields with an optimistic and engaging approach, Brainstation is a fantastic choice. 🌟 While my experience with Brainstation’s AI and Product Management Certificates was enriching, I did not receive job assistance as part of the program. However, I plan to reach out to them this week to explore any potential support in that area

The recruiter made numerous assurances that,… Read More in my experience, did not happen, and the overall learning experience did not justify the considerable expense. While the instructors were satisfactory, I discovered that comparable material could be accessed at a more affordable rate on other platforms. Additionally, the promised career placement assistance was a letdown. The assertion of a 90% job placement rate appeared to be misleading, as a significant number of my fellow bootcamp graduates encountered difficulties securing positions in the industry. This disconnect between expectation and reality was disheartening and raised questions about the accuracy of the information provided during the recruitment process. Furthermore, the support I received, particularly in terms of career services, fell short of my expectations. Seeking help from the course manager for my resume proved disappointing, as the assistance provided was generic and lacked the personalized touch emphasized as part of the package. It felt like a one-size-fits-all approach, and the pledged individualized support was conspicuously absent, leaving me questioning the value of the services included in the package. In contrast, my husband attended a bootcamp at another institution that not only cost less but also provided more effective and personalized assistance. The contrast between our experiences highlighted the notable shortcomings of the BrainStation program. In conclusion, I strongly advise potential students to conduct thorough research and carefully evaluate their options before enrolling in the BrainStation bootcamp. My intention in sharing this feedback is to offer an honest account of my experience and contribute to the enhancement of such programs in the future.
